We’re a small crew by design. Every technician who rolls up to a Thousand Oaks driveway works under the same standard, wears the same uniform, and answers to the same person: Lonnie Burke, the owner. No subcontractors. No rotating cast of strangers. Just local people who know swing operators, slide gates, and the way Conejo Valley summers bake a circuit board until it quits. This page introduces the people you’ll actually talk to and see at your gate.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Lonnie Burke, Owner
Lonnie has been fixing and installing gates since 2008, and he still takes service calls himself when the schedule demands it. He learned the trade the slow way: troubleshooting limit switches on rusted swing operators, rewiring loop detectors in driveways where the asphalt had swallowed the sawcut. He’s the one who wrote the 365-Day Done Right Promise and refuses to let a technician leave a job until the gate cycles five times clean. When he’s not on a job site, he’s ordering parts and answering the phone. If you call after hours, there’s a decent chance it’s Lonnie on the line.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with Carver Gate Repair’s Thousand Oaks crew for over a decade. His specialty is gate motor repair, and he’s certified on LiftMaster, FAAC, and DoorKing systems, which covers most of the operators installed across Westlake Village, Newbury Park, and Thousand Oaks proper. Marcus is the guy who can diagnose a failing capacitor by ear and will tell you exactly why your gate groans on cold mornings: thermal contraction pulling the chain out of spec. He keeps a battered notebook in the truck with wiring notes for every weird install he’s ever seen. If your gate has a problem that only happens on Tuesdays, Marcus wants to hear about it.
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena runs our gate installation work, from single-swing residential gates to heavier slide gates on commercial lots. She came up doing ornamental iron and steel framing before moving into operators, so she understands what happens when a gate post flexes under load. Elena is certified on Viking, BFT, and Elite equipment and handles most of our custom retrofits, where an existing gate gets a new motor and new safety edges without replacing the whole structure. She’s precise about grade and reveal, the two things that determine whether a new gate looks right a year later. Off the clock, she’s the reason our trucks are organized enough to find a photo eye in under a minute.
Danny K., Service Coordinator
Danny is the voice on the phone when you call (805) 309-3048. He’s been with the crew for seven years and knows the local schedule cold: which neighborhoods book morning slots during school drop-off season, which HOAs in the Conejo Valley require gate work to finish before 4 p.m., and which communities need a permit pull before we touch the post. Danny’s job is to make sure you get a real arrival window, a written price before anyone picks up a tool, and a straight answer about part availability. If a part is on backorder, he tells you on the first call. No surprises, no vague “we’ll see what the tech finds.”
Paul M., Apprentice Technician
Paul joined us three years ago after working maintenance at a Thousand Oaks apartment complex, and he’s earned his spot as a full apprentice by learning each brand’s diagnostics in order: first Linear and Ghost Controls, now Mighty Mule and FAAC. He shadows Marcus on motor repairs and handles photo eye alignments, battery replacements, and safety loop continuity checks under supervision. Paul is the one who labels every wire, bags every removed part, and keeps the job site cleaner than he found it. His specialty is patience with stubborn operators that other techs want to condemn. Half the time, he finds the loose wire and saves the customer a motor swap.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this page works to The Garrison Standard, which has been the operating rule inside the Garrison Partners family since 2008. That means the same thing on every gate repair in Thousand Oaks: a written price before work starts, a written guarantee on every repair good for a full year, and a free second visit if the fix fails inside that window. It’s not discretionary. It’s the floor. The crew follows The Garrison Code on site: background-checked, uniformed, and accountable to the customer by name. When you call, a live person answers. When we leave, the gate opens and closes every time. That’s the whole job, and it’s the only way this crew works.
