We stock and install FAAC-compatible welding and fabrication parts in Thousand Oaks, with most bracket and hinge repairs running $220 to $480 installed and heavier fabrication work like custom gate leaf rebuilds landing between $600 and $1,400 depending on steel gauge and finish. We carry common FAAC fabrication hardware on our trucks, so a bent hinge or cracked weld can usually be matched and repaired same-day. Most Thousand Oaks owners discover the problem the hard way: the gate starts dragging on one end, the hinge side sags, or an actuator mount tears loose from the post after years of wind load off the Conejo Grade.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
FAAC swing and slide operators don’t fail in isolation. The fabricated steel around them takes the abuse, and that’s what we weld back to spec. This work covers FAAC 400, 412, 415, 770, and 844 series swing operators, plus the 740 and 884 slide lines. The compatibility gotcha that trips up a lot of Thousand Oaks owners: FAAC’s mounting brackets and hinge plates are milled to tight tolerances, and a generic weld shop will often just burn an oversized bead on a gusset and call it fixed. That changes the geometry. The gate won’t hit its open and close limit switches consistently, and you get phantom obstruction faults. We mate OEM-spec bracket geometry with welds that don’t move, then set the operator’s limits to match the repaired steel.
For identifying what you have: the model plate on a FAAC operator sits on the underside of the housing, and the bracket bolt spacing on the 400-series swings is 130mm center to center, while the 844 uses a wider 180mm pattern. Worth knowing before you order anything aftermarket. We use OEM brackets when the originals are intact and weld-repairable, and quality aftermarket equivalents only when the original is too far gone and FAAC’s lead time would leave you without a working gate for weeks.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags visibly at the free end. The hinge post or the hinge barrels themselves have worn oval, and the gate’s weight is now sitting on the operator instead of the steel. Left alone, this takes out the operator’s worm gear.
- The actuator mount cracks or tears at the post. We see this most often on gates that catch the afternoon wind in Thousand Oaks’ open hillside neighborhoods. The wind loads cycle the mount bracket thousands of times, and if the original weld had any porosity, it starts cracking from the inside out.
- The gate rattles or clanks at the start of each cycle. Something in the pivot point has wallowed out, likely a hinge pin or a wallowed bracket hole. The noise is the gate picking up slack before it actually starts moving.
- You can see light through a weld or a hairline crack running along a joint. This is the one to take seriously. A cracked weld on a gate leaf or a hinge bracket is a structural failure in progress, not a cosmetic issue.
- The gate won’t close fully and the operator faults out intermittently. The steel has shifted enough that the limit switch timing no longer matches the gate’s travel, and the operator shuts down to protect itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Thousand Oaks, here’s the honest range we quote: hinge barrel rebuilds and bracket repairs run $220 to $480 per side, full hinge replacements with new pins and welded plates land at $350 to $650, and custom fabrication like rebuilding a corroded gate leaf section or fabricating a new operator mount post runs $600 to $1,400 depending on steel gauge and powder coat. The range comes down to how much steel needs cutting out and whether we’re working with mild steel or reinforcing with thicker plate. We give you a written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t move once we’re on the job. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the repair fails inside that year, we come back free and make it right.
Every fabrication repair includes grinding back the failed weld, prepping clean steel, rewelding with proper penetration, and priming or coating the repair to match. No bead over rust. No grinder-and-spray-paint shortcuts.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do two things: photograph the damage with a phone and check whether the gate still opens and closes with the manual release engaged. That tells us a lot before we arrive. What you shouldn’t do is fire up a flux-core welder and try to lay a bead on a failed hinge bracket. Gate steel under tension is unforgiving. If a bracket lets go while you’re under the gate, or a weld fails and the leaf drops, you’re looking at a serious injury. Welding gate steel also isn’t the place to learn: most of what fails on FAAC gates in Thousand Oaks is fatigue cracking in old welds, and if you don’t grind the crack fully out, you’re just covering it up. Lonnie Burke would rather explain exactly what failed over the phone than have you guess at it with a hot torch. If we can’t fix it right, we’ll tell you that before we touch it. Call (805) 309-3048 and we’ll walk through what you’re seeing.
FAQs
With clean steel and proper penetration, a repaired hinge or bracket weld should last 10 to 15 years in Thousand Oaks’ climate, which is dry enough that corrosion is rarely the killer. The bigger factor is wind fatigue on hillside properties, and that’s why we grind the old crack fully out before laying a new bead. Call (805) 309-3048 and we’ll tell you straight whether your steel is worth saving or replacing.
Most FAAC brackets can be welded and refinished in place, unless the steel has cracked through multiple planes or rust has thinned the metal below what’s safe. We’ll tell you which one applies to your gate and quote it both ways before you choose. Estimates are free.
A single hinge or bracket repair is usually done in two to four hours on site, including cooling time and primer. Full gate leaf fabrication takes a day or two, plus powder coat cure time if you want a factory finish. We’ll give you a written time frame with your written price.
We keep common FAAC hinge pins, brackets, and mounting plates on the truck, along with the fabrication steel we use for rebuilds. OEM components that aren’t on the truck can usually be sourced same-week. Either way, you’ll know the price before we order anything. Call (805) 309-3048 and we’ll check stock for your model while you’re on the phone.
